I couldn't do my homework because I was helping my mom.

I couldn't answer the phone because I was watching a movie.
 
집안일을 하느라고 약속 시간을 깜빡했어요.
I forgot about my appointment time because I was doing housework.
 
  • '-느라고' can only be attached to actions that the subject performs intentionally.
      • 바쁘느라고 숙제를 못했어요 X
      차가 막히느라고 늦었어요 X
 
  • You can omit ‘-고’
      • 엄마를 도와주느라 숙제를 못 했어요 O
      영화를 보느라 전화를 못 받았어요 O
       
  • 다른 변명의 연결 어미, -는 탓에, -는 바람에
